healing comes in the spring…..

April 17, 2012

I’m learning that healing doesn’t always come in the way we imagine it to……

It doesn’t always come quickly and it doesn’t come “our way”.

The healing may not even be obvious until its already begun to do its work….

This past weekend, I saw healing begin as I spent an afternoon simply loving and truly enjoying my oldest daughter.

There were no deep discussions over the pain between us, yet there was a common ground, bridged by love.

As I sat across the table from her, I realized that our roles had changed…..

She wasn’t my little girl sitting under my authority, but rather, she was my daughter—living life on her own—needing a listening ear.

There was no pressure on either part, instead there was a mutual respect, accepting each other right where we’re at.

There was much laughter and many discussions that we’d never had before…..

We went shopping and made fun memories as we tried on styles that we knew we’d never really wear…..

And we shared— more than once— our joy over simply being together.

It was a sweet time, a time that I will cherish for days to come…..

It was beautiful and refreshing, all wrapped up in one.

Beneath the surface was the reality that this is how things need to be….

Though there’s been much pain from choices made in haste,

I can now see that God is using this time to teach not just me, but her as well.

She is learning life in a way that she wasn’t positioned to learn at home, under our authority and our care….

And I believe that God is going to use this season to make her strong.

so you see, the healing has begun…

And I’m entrusting this season—and my precious daughter—to the One who redeems all things, in his time.

I am so glad you and your daughter were able to spend time together and enjoy each others company! I pray that God continues to heal both of you, as individuals as well as the relationship between you
    Blessings
