his past weekend turned out to be a very special time for our family. we had the privilege of spending quite a bit of time with some very special people: our church family.
on saturday night, my husband and i attended a surprise party for one of our pastors who was being ordained on sunday morning. it was a small crowd of people, making it a very intimate and personal time. all 3 of our pastors were there, along with their wives and a few other couples from church.
as i sat there looking at the people around me, i was once again reminded of God’s faithfulness.
his faithfulness to bring our family to a church where we have thrived spiritually and have come to expereince God’s grace in ways like never before.
his faihtfulness to give us 3 pastors who are humble, faithful men of God. men who ask for input from their church family and humbly live out the love of Christ.
his faithfulness to give us 3 pastor’s wives who faithfully love and support their husbands and eagerly care for their families. as i looked at my pastor’s wives, i thought to myself how ironic it is that each one of them have been a wonderful means of God’s grace in my life. each one of them regularly speak truth to me, pray with and for me, and go out of their way to care for me.
we had such a wonderful time celebrating with these precious people all that God is doing in our church.
on sunday, the celebration continued as we had the awesome privilege of going out to lunch with one of our pastors and his sweet family. this time proved to be very precious as we shared food and conversation that uplifted us and left us very grateful for God’s provision once again.
as it turned out, we came home just in time to have another one of our pastors over for dinner last night. we spent the evening just marveling at God’s amazing care for us. how could it be that we can be a part of a church that is led by such humble, godly people. people whom we love so very much and look forward to being with every sunday.
and it doesn’t stop there. not only is our church led by godly people, but it is filled with authentic, godly people who desire to live their lives for the glory of God. it is filled with people who carry one another’s burdens, and who go out of their way to reach out.
no church is perfect, that much is true, because we’re all sinners in need of God’s grace. but to me, our church is the perfect church for us, and i am so thankful to God for this precious gift…..
