Reading Proverbs and applying it….

March 15, 2011

I’ve been trying to read a chapter of Proverbs to the kids each day while we’re eating breakfast.

Some days, even the shortest of chapters can take forever to read, because i have to stop every 10 seconds or so to tell someone to sit down, stop touching your sister, stop talking, listen to mommy….you get the idea, right?

So, the other day i came across the verse in proverbs that says “where there are many words, sin is present.”

i go on to explain to my kids that when we are trying to work through something with someone, we should listen more than we talk and we need to not go on and on.  i told them that the more we go on and on, the easier it is for us to say things we shouldn’t say, especailly if we’re angry.

as i’m explaining this to them, my little guy, matthew, decides to interrupt in order to say something to his brother.

my witty little curly girl jumps in and says, “Matthew, you’re using too many words…..”

at least i know she was listening.  🙂
