it’s hard to believe that gabrielle turned 5 years old today. also known as “curly girl”, gabrielle truely lives up to her middle name, which is joy. she is such a “spunky” little girl and has us laughing all the time.
it’s been hard for me to accept that gabrielle’s turning 5 today; i’m guessing it’s because she’s my youngest daughter, making her my baby girl. she’s outgrown her chubby baby cheeks and chubby thighs and now looks like a little girl rather than a toddler…sigh…..
when i look back to before i had gabrielle, i can remember being “satisfied” with our family size and I was done. little did i know, God had a better plan….gabrielle joy.
finding out i was pregnant with gabrielle was quite an experience. we went from finding out we were pregnant, finding out next that i was actually pregnant with twins, finding out 2 weeks later that one of the twins didn’t make it and then being extremely sick for the first 3 months of the pregnancy.
when gabrielle joy decided to make her entrance into this world 3 weeks early, i was ecstatic…i couldn’t wait to meet this precious little life that God had so graciously spared. i couldn’t believe it when the nurse handed her to me and i saw that she had curls on top of her head!! she was such a tiny sweet little thing and i just couldn’t get enough of her.
i remember how shaken up we were when at a month old gabrielle had to be hospitalized with rsv. she looked so pathetic and weak and i was so afraid we were going to lose her. she had to be in the hospital for 4 days. she recovered well from the rsv and didn’t have any lasting effects.
gabrielle has a tender heart and loves to share and play with her siblings. it doesn’t seem possible that someone so young could be so witty, but she certainly fits the bill.
i am so thankful to God for the gift of Gabrielle and am thankful for yet another year to love and enjoy her.
