5-minute Friday: “Awake”

2011 wasn’t at all what i expected.

i was sure it would be a great year, filled with many fun memories.

little did i know, it would instead be filled with depression, parenting trials, and loss.

darkness was a common friend in 2011, one who visited me regularly.

and when i lost my dad in october, grief became darkness’s twin.

but as i look back over the past 6 months of my life, i am aware of one very strong theme….

through the darkness, through the parenting trials, and especially through the grief—when nothing else could touch me—i was awake to your love.

as your Word promises, you never left me….

thank you, Lord, for awakening me to your deep love.
